Temporary Fencing Built for Construction Sites

A construction site perimeter has a job to do that goes beyond marking a boundary: it keeps the public out of danger, secures expensive plant and materials overnight, controls dust and debris, and satisfies the building department. Our temporary construction fence is a chain-link mesh panel inside a galvanized tubular frame, standing on weighted feet - freestanding, no digging, no post driving. The same panels relocate as the work front moves: perimeter today, excavation enclosure next month, material compound after that. One fleet covers the whole project lifecycle. What height does my building code require for a construction site fence?

Most US and Canadian municipalities require a minimum 6ft (1.8m) fence around active construction sites. Some cities require 8ft for demolition or excavation work. Check your local building department - requirements vary by city and by project type. If you operate across multiple jurisdictions, ordering a mix of 6ft and 8ft panels covers you everywhere.

Can the fence be relocated as the construction site changes?

Yes - that is the core advantage over permanent fencing. Panels lift off their feet and re-attach in a new position in minutes. A typical residential project moves the perimeter 3–5 times as phases complete: excavation → foundation → framing → external works. The same panels serve each phase without damage.

How stable are freestanding panels in wind?

Concrete block feet (610×590mm or 762×460mm) hold panels upright in normal conditions. For exposed sites, coastal areas or panels over 6ft, we supply stability stays - angled braces that tie the panel back to an extra foot. In wind zones above 100 km/h, stays are mandatory; a blown-over fence is both a safety hazard and a liability.

Can I attach dust screening or privacy mesh?

Yes. Shade cloth (50–90% shade factor) or solid PE privacy board attaches directly to the chain-link mesh with zip ties or hog rings. Note that adding screen increases wind load significantly - if you plan to screen the full perimeter, order stability stays for the entire fence line, not just corners.

What is the MOQ, lead time and container loading?

MOQ is one 20ft container (approx. 200 panels with feet and clamps). Production takes 12–15 days. A 40ft high-cube holds approximately 280–350 panels (6×12ft) with matching feet. Tell us your site perimeter length and we will return a panel count, accessory list and container plan within 24 hours.
