Welded Gabion Cages for Riverbank & Slope Protection
Welded gabion cages do their best work on banks that have stopped moving. Where a channel runs through stable ground - urban river training, canal banks, reservoir rims, road cuttings - the rigid welded cage gives a face that stays flat and tidy for decades, and it goes up fast. Cages arrive flat-packed; a helix spring joint closes each edge in seconds; a small crew can place and fill a full course in a day, machine-filling the core and hand-setting flat stone only where the face shows.
Like every gabion it is fully permeable, so there is no hydrostatic pressure building up behind the bank and no drainage pipes to clog after the first flood.

Every course gets nonwoven geotextile behind it so the bank soil stays in place while the water passes through. Helix joints are supplied with the cages - no site welding, no special tools.
Customizable in any size

Frequently Asked Questions
Welded or woven cages for my riverbank?
Honest answer: it depends on the bank. Where the ground settles or scour runs deep, woven double-twist cages flex with the movement - that is what they were invented for. Where the bank is stable and the face matters - town centers, canal promenades, reservoir rims - welded cages give the flat, crisp finish that woven mesh never quite holds. We manufacture both; tell us the site and we will say which.
How fast is installation?
Flat-packed cages close up in minutes with the supplied helix joints. A small crew with one excavator can place, fill and close a full course in a working day - no formwork, no curing, no waiting on concrete trucks.
What stone size should we fill with?
Rule: stone at least 1.5 times the largest mesh opening. For 50×100mm mesh that means 100–200mm stone. Flat pieces get hand-set on visible faces; the core takes machine-placed rock straight from the local quarry.
Will the galvanized coating survive constant water?
In permanent fresh water, standard hot-dip zinc weights hold for decades. Splash zones, brackish or aggressive water call for PVC or Galfan coatings - send us the water chemistry and we will match the coating to it.
Can you quote from our drawings or BOQ?
Yes. Send the bank lengths, heights and any cross-sections; a complete quotation - cages, joints, geotextile - comes back within 24 hours.
