Product Overview

Our Flood Control Hesco Barrier is a rapidly deployable, water-resistant barrier system designed for emergency flood response, riverbank reinforcement, levee construction, and water diversion projects. Unlike permanent concrete flood walls that require months of construction, our Hesco flood barriers can be transported flat, unfolded on-site, and filled with locally available sand or soil to create a continuous, impermeable flood defense in hours.
The system combines a corrosion-resistant galvanized welded wire mesh cage with a heavy-duty non-woven geotextile liner that retains fill material while allowing controlled water seepage, reducing hydrostatic pressure. Whether you are protecting critical infrastructure, residential areas, or agricultural land from seasonal flooding, our flood control barriers offer a cost-effective, reusable solution trusted by disaster response agencies worldwide.
Key Features & Advantages
Rapid Emergency Deployment
A crew of 4 with one excavator can install 50+ meters of flood barrier per hour, critical for time-sensitive flood events.
Superior to Sandbags
One 10-meter Hesco unit replaces approximately 2,000 sandbags, reducing labor time by 90% and eliminating repetitive strain injuries.
Watertight Geotextile Liner
High-density 300–350g/m² polypropylene liner with UV inhibitors prevents soil erosion through the mesh while maintaining structural permeability.
Reusable & Relocatable
After floodwaters recede, units can be emptied, folded, and stored for future deployment, delivering long-term cost efficiency.
Flexible Configuration
Build straight levees, curved diversion channels, or ring-flood protection around individual structures; units conform to uneven terrain.
Corrosion-Resistant Construction
Hot-dip galvanized or Galfan-coated steel mesh withstands prolonged water immersion and humid environments.

Flood Control Applications
- Emergency Levee Construction – Rapidly build temporary flood walls along rivers and coastlines
- Riverbank & Embankment Reinforcement – Stabilize eroding banks and reinforce existing levees
- Water Diversion Channels – Redirect floodwaters away from critical infrastructure
- Ring-Flood Protection – Enclose individual buildings, substations, or equipment yards
- Bridge & Culvert Abutment Protection – Prevent scour and erosion around bridge foundations
- Urban Flood Mitigation – Protect underground entrances, subway stations, and parking garages
- Agricultural Flood Control – Protect crops, livestock, and irrigation infrastructure

Installation Guide
Site Assessment – Identify flood-prone areas and plan barrier alignment; clear debris and vegetation from the deployment path.
Ground Preparation – Level the base and remove sharp objects that could puncture the geotextile liner.
Unfold & Align – Place units end-to-end along the planned flood defense line; ensure tight joints between sections.
4. Seal Joints – Overlap geotextile liners at unit connections by 15–20cm to prevent water seepage through joints.
Fill Progressively – Fill from both ends toward the center in 30cm layers, compacting each layer to prevent settling.

FAQ
1.How long can the flood barrier stay deployed in water?
A: With proper galvanized or Galfan coating and UV-stabilized geotextile, units can remain deployed continuously for 5+ years. For permanent installations, we recommend Galfan coating for maximum corrosion resistance.1
2.Can the barrier be used on sloped ground?
A: Yes. The flexible mesh structure conforms to moderate slopes (up to 10°). For steeper terrain, units can be terraced in a stepped configuration.
3.What fill material works best for flood control?
A: Sand is ideal for rapid drainage and availability. Clay or silt can be used for a more watertight barrier but requires careful compaction. Avoid large rocks that could damage the liner.
4.Is the geotextile liner replaceable?
A: Yes. If the liner is damaged, it can be patched with geotextile repair tape or replaced entirely. We stock replacement liners for all standard models.
